What Makes A Great Golfer? #SafaricomGolfTour

There are many aspects that go into becoming a great player in any sport. For some, it comes naturally whilst for others takes years of practice.

Just like in every sport, golf has certain elements that make every player stand out

Some players start out young and some at a later stage but that doesn’t necessarily they turn out the same way. The passion, drive and will to succeed – among other aspects like financial backing – will determine who the greater player is.

The caddie – Without the support of a strong, capable caddie, it’s very hard to be a good golfer. I did a piece on how important caddies are to golfers, you can check it out here

Spirit – Golf is a unique sport. It requires focus, patience and of course a winning spirit. It also brings out the best in players with the etiquette it requires, the versatility needed at the course.. I mean the list goes on and on but we can all agree that golf is truly one of a kind.

Support – The amount of teamwork and respect that goes into a round of golf is incredible.

1. No matter the outcome, there are rules to be followed like shaking hands after rounds. This brings such a level of respect and support for your fellow team mates whether they beat you on the course or not. Are ,

2. The support from families – The Junior golfers at the Safaricom Golf Tour have shown how important it is for a player in any sport to have support. Be it from their parents, guardians, siblings or even team mates; they have demonstrated how far a player can go when someone has their back.

For most of the Junior golfers, their parents had to wake up early or stay up late to oversee or even help them practice and yet again wake up on the Junior Golf Tournaments on Sundays to watch them play.

This is the kind of stuff that really shows you how golf is a nurturing sport and we continue to embrace the support of Safaricom especially for the Juniors as they are groomed in the gentleman’s sport.
