Did you know that there are over 20 independent mobile loan apps in Kenya? Diversity in the mobile money lending sector has gone notch higher with the launch of mobile money-lending apps and of course the accessibility to mobile phones, the speed of internet and the existence of M-PESA.So what makes HF Whizz different?
The first thing George explains is the user experience. “The HF Whizz Team is constantly making sure that our customers always have a seamless experience when using the app.
Availability is also key for us. If you had already downloaded the app before the launch, you’ve noticed that you had to first update it before using it. The last thing you need when trying to access your money is downtime on the app, which we guarantee our customers won’t face. By being on two very large global centres, we want to ensure that our customers don’t postpone what they need to do on the app or push them to going to a branch just because we’re upgrading our app.
We’re also giving our customers what they want. We did a lot of research and feedback before coming up with the app and what we’ve given on the app is what our customers would want to have. The ‘Send Money, M-PESA Paybill, Buy Airtime and Loans functions are just some of the key things they would like to see and have first when they open the app.
Security is also key for us. We do a lot of heavylifting in the back so that our customers feel secure when they’re using the app.
In terms of features, we already have a road map of how the app will look like in November or December, so we’ll be doing releases on new features as the months go by.
Why don’t we see more features on property and insurance
We’re still in phase 1 at the moment, but customers can see more of that in phase 2
though currently on the menu, you can view our properties and initiate the process. It allows you to calculate how much one needs to get the land and also allow for one to deposit the amount online. We’re still working on the microinsurance segment as we figure out what’s the best pricing, how do customers want to experience it, how customers can effectively view the property we have and so much more.
So we expect to see more young people getting interested in property since this is your key target audience for the HF Whizz App?
Definitely. I mean it’s always at the back of someone’s mind to have some property in their name so why not start young? What’s even more exciting is with the budget feature on the app, you’ll be able to track how you spend and how you can even effectively save for when you need to think of buying property like land or a house.
For example, if the amount you spend on shopping comes to 10,000, if you can try to reduce that amount to 8,000; this is how you can own a home in the next 5 years. Essentially, the app uses big data to guide you on your journey.
