With the LG Tone Free buds, LG looks to capitalize on the true wireless craze
while introducing a first-of-its-kind product in the category. LG truly never
compromised on the design and functionality quality of the LG Tone Free Buds.
One major highlight of the LG Tone Free buds is its pebble-shaped charging
case. It is attractive and unique, exuding a makeup compact case vibe. It is
equally light and more portable thus taking up less space in your pockets.
The lid opens easily and has a magnet to shut it properly. It is strong thus will
not cause the buds to spill across the floor if dropped. Opening the case leaves
a greater impression than the exterior design: two blue-tinted LEDs
momentarily alight the silicone ear tips. No matter how many times you open
the case, the blue glow will consistently impress you. On the front of the
charging case is a small LED that gives you an indication of the remaining
battery life. The USB-C charging port can be found on the back.
As mentioned, LG says the charging case is capable of killing bacteria on the
speaker mesh of the earbuds.
The UV Nano technology is LG’s version of two UV lights and proven to kill
99.9% of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli)
bacteria. This aids in preventing ear infections. However, the case needs to be
connected via the USB-C cable for the cleaning function to activate, but once in
operation, it takes just ten minutes to kill 99.9% of bacteria on the speaker
mesh of the buds.
LG hasn’t yet confirmed if the UV light is also capable of killing viruses, which in
hindsight, may have been more useful especially during the current Covid-19
pandemic – but we can see how this feature may be reassuring to those who
frequently share their buds with others.
If you’re prone to ear infections or concerned about the spread of germs while
using buds, which is perfectly understandable, the LG Tone Free Buds are
certainly worth a buy.
