Johnnie Walker Announces Kshs 2.5 Million Boost For 2021/22 Safari Tour

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) through its premium spirits brand Johnnie Walker has committed sponsorship of KSH 2.5 Million towards the currently ongoing 2021/22 Safari Tour golf series.

The sponsorship is set to go towards the organization of the final three Safari Tour events to be held at Limuru Country Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, and Karen Country.

Johnnie Walker Announces Kshs 2.5 Million Boost For 2021/22 Safari TourSpeaking during the announcement at Karen Country Club, KBL Managing Director John Musunga said that the sponsorship is aimed at boosting the preparations of the Kenyan pros heading to the Magical Kenya Open Championship.

“KBL through the Johnnie Walker Brand will sponsor to the tune of Ksh 2.5 million the upcoming final three legs of the 2021/22 Safari Tour which will be held at Limuru Country Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, and Karen Country Club. It is our hope and belief that this sponsorship will go a long way in ensuring our professional golfers are well prepared as we head to the main tournament – the Magical Kenya Open that is set to take place in March this year and I look forward to improved performances at the tournament,” said Musunga.

“As KBL celebrates its centenary year, we remain committed to supporting the growth of all sports in Kenya. We have over the years been one of the longest-standing partners of Golf in the country, and this association with Safari Tour and KOGL will continue to provide an opportunity for Kenyans to interact with Golf for the next 100 years through our various interactions,” he added.

Kenya Open Golf Limited Chairman Peter Kanyago expressed delight at having KBL on board, noting it will go a long way towards ensuring the success of the events.

“We are grateful to KBL for its sponsorship of the upcoming final events of the current Safari Tour season. KBL has on many occasions proven to be a strong supporter of golf and this sponsorship speaks to their continued commitment towards the sport. This sponsorship comes at a very good time as the players prepare for this year’s Magical Kenya Open. This will no doubt go a long way in not only ensuring the success of the events but also boosting the players’ morale as we head to the Kenya Open,” said Kanyago.

The upcoming three legs of the series dubbed Road to Kenya Open 2022 are set to take place at Limuru Country Club on 22 – 26 January 2022, followed by Muthaiga Golf Club on 5 – 9 February before moving to Karen Country Club on 12 – 16 February.

Following the events, the top 8 Kenyans in the final Road to Kenya Open 2022 rankings and the top 3 foreign players will qualify to participate in the European Tour-sanctioned Magical Kenya Open 2022.

The Series has since been held at Sigona Golf Club, VetLab Sports Club, Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort, Nyali Golf and Country Club and Entebbe Golf Club in Uganda.
