16 Students To Receive Scholarships Courtesy of Colgate’s Bright Smiles Bright Futures

16 learners have received KES 1,280,000 in scholarship prize money courtesy of Colgate-Palmolive. The money will go towards tuition fees, stationery and textbooks in all schooling phases for the children of ages 7 to 18 years.

The scholarship campaign is part of Colgate’s ongoing Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program, which has been reaching millions of children around the world with oral health education for the past 25 years.

Through long-standing partnerships with governments, schools and communities, Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures is among the most far-reaching, successful children’s oral health initiatives in the world. The initiative has reached more than 900 million children and their families across 80 countries. The program delivers oral health education and will continue to do so in the future.

In some countries, Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® is mobile. In the United States, Colgate’s fleet of mobile dental vans travels to rural and urban communities to provide free dental screenings and oral health education to children in need. Colgate’s classroom curriculum reaches nearly nine out of every 10 kindergarten students each year, 3.5 million children in all 50 states, and more than 10 million children through our mobile dental van grassroots van program

With two child-sized dental chairs aboard the mobile van, Colgate’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® screens two children at a time. The average dental screening lasts approximately two minutes. With the support of volunteer dental professionals, children ranging from three to 12 years of age all receive dental check-ups, treatment referrals (if needed), and learning materials that include a tube of Colgate® kid’s toothpaste, a Colgate® kid’s toothbrush and brushing instructions.
