The VMA’s 2018 were held on August 20th at Radio City Music Hall in Newyork city.This was the 35th annual award show and it aired live from the venue for the 12th time.

Cardi B led the list of nominations with ten nominations. She also opened the show with a stunning performance just weeks after giving birth to her daughter, Kulture Kiari. Beyoncé and Jay-Z trailed closely with eight nominations, followed by Childish Gambino who had seven.

The biggest winner of the night was Camila Cabello who took home the award for the Video of the year for her smash hit ‘Havana’ featuring Young Thug. She also bagged another award for Artist of the year. Post Malone took home the award for song of the year with his hit single ‘Rockstar’. Cardi B won for the Best New Artist as well as song of summer for ‘I like It’.

Jlo was a big highlight for the night as she was set to take home the coveted legendary Award dubbed as ‘Michael Jackson Video Vanguard’ for her contribution in making some of the greatest videos in Music history.

Other key winners included Childish Gambino for Best Direction, Best choreography and Video with a message for his viral smash ‘This is America’.The Carters were also not left behind as they won the awards for Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography for their single ‘Ape shit’

Nicki Minaj won for the best hiphop video for her hit ‘Chun Li’ as Ariana Grande’s ‘No tears left to cry’ won for the best Pop song. Imagine Dragons ruled in the rock category as their song ‘Whatever it takes’ won for best rock video. The best collaborators went to Jeniffer lopez for her single ‘Dinero’ featuring Cardi B and Dj Khaled. Best Visuals went to Kendrick Lamar and Sza for the single ‘All the stars’ which featured on the movie Black Panther.

The VMA’s also had great performances from Jennifer Lopez who did a medley of her hits like ‘Love don’t cost a thing’ to ‘On the floor’, Shawn Mendez with his hit single ‘In my blood’, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Rock band Panic at the Disco, Travis scott, Bazzi, Post Malone and rock legends Aerosmith.
